Auburn Ambulance and Fire Company News

The Ambulance Service and the Fire Company are always looking for volunteers. Please phone Judy at (570)754-3-14 for more information and ask how you can help. The Fire and Ambulance Fund Drive Packets had been mailed out. These donations help to pay for every day expenses. We need your support! If you did not receive a packet, please call Judy at (570)754-3014. The Third Annual "Pig Roast(by Andy Webber) & Block Party" will be held on August 10th. A "Lights & Siren Parade" will kick off the festivities at 5:30 P.M. Your $20 pig roast ticket includes "All you can eat" fixing's, draft beer, and birch beer. See any Fire Company member to purchase a ticket. DJ Kevin Sibbett starts 6:00 P.M. There will be block party games for the young and old. Burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc. also available for those who do not purchase a ticket.

Auburn Blue Mountain Recreation News

The Blue Mountain Recreation Commission has tentative plans for the summer playground program to start on June 10th and end on August 2nd. (Mon. thru Fri.)The Auburn site will be included if early registration numbers show that enough children are interested. Please phone (570)366-1190 for more information and to register. The new basketball court should be finished within the next few months. Regulation lines will be painted, and the poles, nets and fencing must be installed in order to complete this project.

Auburn VFW Post 3975

The VFW is open every day from 3:00 P.M. until closing and welcomes new members and guests. Entertainment is offered on a monthly basis.

Auburn Municipal Authority

Remember to keep your brushes and trees trimmed away from your water meter for easier reading. Please do not put items that are not flushable into the water system. These items get lodged in the pump intakes at the pumping stations and can cause additional expense. Also note, do not put oil, gasoline, or any products that give off fumes or vapors into the sewer system.

Pets

Your pet or pets must be confined in an enclosure sufficient to prevent them from running at large!! Remember that you are responsible to clean up after them and have control of them at all times.

Unregistered and Uninspected Vehicles

Abandoned, unregistered, and/or uninspected vehicles may not be parked, stored, or left to remain on any lot, tract, or parcel of land in the Borough unless necessary for the operation of a business enterprise lawfully permitted on private property. These vehicles will be subject to be tagged and removed according to Borough Ordinance.

Grass Cutting and Debris

Each resident is responsible for his/her sidewalk surrounding their property. It is important to keep high grass, weeds, and leaves removed, as well as low hanging tree branches and overgrown shrubbery. Also note, residents are responsible for the areas from their homes to their fence/garage/sheds, out to the alleyways. All grass,weeds, and debris/rubbish in these areas are to be maintained. Non-compliance will result in a citation and fine.

Community Yard Sale

The community yard sale will be held Saturday, August 3rd. Please contact Mayor Burke at (570)754-7517 to sign up and participate. Don't forget to mark your calendars!

Children's Bicycle Helmets

A friendly reminder that according to Pennsylvania State Law, all children ages 12 and under must wear a bicycle helmet when riding their bikes. Helmets are available free of charge during posted hours at the Community Center on Pearson Street.

Auburn Garbage Day

Garbage is picked up on Friday unless we have a Monday holiday, then pick up will be Saturday morning. Please note that the Borough has a five bag limit. Do not place large items out for pick-up! This is a violation of Borough ordinance.

Leaves and Yard Debris Collection

The Borough's road crew continues to collect leaves and yard debris. Materials must be placed curbside in bags or containers. Branches must be cut and bundled. The workers will not enter private property to remove any of these items. Remember the borough has a strict "NO BURNING" ordinance, so this is a great way for citizens to get rid of their yard waste.

Auburn Clean-Up Days

Two clean-up days are scheduled for the month of June. They will be held on Saturday, June 15th, from 8 am - 12 noon & Friday, June 28th, from 5 pm - 8 pm. The dumpsters will be located near the Community Center on Pearson Street. Please take advantage of this opportunity to clean up your property! Note that proof of residency will be required. Items with freon or any type of electronics will NOT be accepted on these dates!

Auburn PA Permits

A permit is needed for any repair or renovation to your property. Permit applications, (USS or Borough), must be obtained at the Borough Office on Pearson Street during posted hours. Also note that a permit my take 48 hours to process so please plan your work accordingly.

Auburn Electronics and Universal Recycling Event

As you may be aware, the sanitation company can no longer accept any kind of electronics in your garbage. Due to this fact, Auburn has agreed to sponsor an Electronic and Universal Recycling Event, with a no charge drop off service, on June 1st, 9 - 1 P.M., across from the Community Center on Pearson Street. Please take advantage of this great offer to get rid of your old computers, stereos, televisions, etc. Flyers with more information are located at the Borough Office. You can also contact Advanced Green Solutions at (610)767-2577 with any questions you may have.

Auburn Borough Council

Auburn Borough Council meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 P.M., in the Community Center at 451 Pearson Street. Meeting dates and office hours are posted on the bulletin board. The public is always welcome to attend!

Controlled Burning in Auburn

Just recently, Schuylkill County lifted the burning ban due to dry conditions. However, if you plan to do some controlled burning, please call (570)628-3792 to report a controlled burn. This avoids unnecessary emergency calls from passerby's or neighbors unaware of a controlled burn. Save everyone some time - including yourself, and make one simple call.

The Auburn Fire Company and Ambulance Service is a team of volunteers ready to respond to your emergency. Our volunteers are your neighbors, friends, and family willing to give their time generously to protect the ones you love. We're there for you at a moment's notice - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Last year Fire Personnel responded to 66 calls and Ambulance Personnel responded to 223 calls for help without hesitation.

The annual fund drive is under way to benefit the Auburn Ambulance and Auburn Fire Company. Donation packets were mailed out last week.
